IT'S A BAPTISM OF BOOZE!
Once again Gabola Church has taken religion through booze to a new level! Not only are new congregants baptised with booze, they're welcomed into the House of the Lord with their choice of their favourite drink – anything from whisky, cider and gin, to simple beer. Founder and leader of the church, Tsietsi Makiti, said none of their members wanted to be baptised with water. Gabola Church International Ministries was established four years ago to allow boozers who felt rejected by other churches to also worship. The church has since grown and is operating in different taverns across the country.
'If I'm not present, baptism is performed by tavern owners who are either pastors or bishops,' Makiti told Daily Sun. 'New members are welcomed and choose their drink. They also choose whether the alcohol should be poured or put on their heads, or even whether they should drink it. The age limit for drinking alcohol at the church is 20 years.' It is strict about responsible drinking and accountability. Members have testified about how their spirits were set free after finding a place of worship that accepted them.
'We're peaceful and joyful during our services,' he said. 'Every member understands that even though we consume alcohol, we're still in church. It has changed their behaviour.'

RESIDENTS BLOCK MUSLIM FAMILY FROM SLAUGHTERING ANIMALS
A Muslim family, the Fareed family, was forced to conduct its religious slaughtering ceremony for Eid-ul-Adha under police guard, after neighbours tried to stop them forcibly.
Ayman Fareed, a resident of Saddlebrook Estate* in Gauteng, described the attempt to block the slaughtering by neighbours as 'racist and anti-Islam'.
The trouble started around 06:20 when the trailer transporting the animals reached the estate. Minutes later, according to Ayman Fareed, 10 to 15 cars blocked the entrance.
'My wife was driving in when a bakkie blocked her off. We were shut off from our home at both gates. She resorted to going through the boom gate. As she did so, the bakkie rammed into her. The driver came out wielding an army knife. He slashed the tyres of the trailer transporting the animals,' he said.
Eventually, the slaughtering did take place, but under a high police guard. Eleven sheep and one bull were slaughtered. The estate's board of directors later confirmed that Fareed had been granted permission and condemned the actions of the residents.
