QUESTION 1
1.1 Read the extract below and answer the questions that follow.
TEENAGE PREGNANCY
Despite on-going awareness and deterrent attempts by governments and non-governmental organisations, teen pregnancy is still a major concern around the world. Annually, about 16 million girls between 15 and 19 years old become pregnant, while about one million girls under the age of 15 give birth. A further three million girls undergo unsafe abortions each year, according to the fact sheet of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
1.1.1 Briefly explain why teenage pregnancy is a major concern in society. (10)
1.1.2 With reference to any ONE religion you have studied, discuss THREE of its teachings that address the issue of teenage pregnancy. (12)
1.2 Read the extract below and answer the questions that follow.
All religions have some beliefs that are non-negotiable, that all its followers share. However, within religions the interpretation of the beliefs may differ from one school of thought to another. Sometimes these differences are major and have even led to religious wars.

Read the extract below and answer the questions that follow.
You might think that religion is universal and that all human beings are religious in one way or another. For many people, this is not the case. Some regard themselves as non-religious. Another way of referring to them is to say they hold a secular world view.
3.1 Name ONE secular world view and discuss its origin. (12)
3.2 Critically evaluate the impact of secularism on the religious community. (12)
3.3 Briefly explain the Big Bang theory. (10)

4.1 Read the extract below and answer the questions that follow.
History is full of religious conflicts and even wars. Not all religious conflicts are, of course, wars. Sometimes the conflict is only verbal and does not involve any violence. Sometimes politicians use religion for their own political support.
4.1.1 Name ONE country in Africa where religion is possibly part of the conflict. (2)
4.1.2 Briefly explain the historical development of the conflict in the country you named in QUESTION 4.1. (10)
4.1.3 Discuss the role played by TWO religious organisations in resolving this conflict. (10)
